Will doing deadlifts develop the abdominal muscles?

This is a question that I received the other day through the Total Fitness Bodybuilding Workout App.
"Does The Deadlift Work Your Abs?"
The answer isn't a straight up YES or NO because your abdominals come into play to some degree with all exercises you do. They are stabilizer and supporting muscles for your core. When you stand up, walk, lift, bend, twist, etc. your abs are involved.
So when you do a deadlift the abs are indirectly being worked to help balance and support your body. And this would apply for any exercise for that matter...
When you squat the abs come into play as stabilizing and supporting muscles.
When you do an over head press the abs have to help support your torso and keep your body upright.
Even doing a bicep curl will indirectly work your abdominal muscles.
However, these exercises are not going to develop your abdominals. No body is going to do deadlifts alone in hopes of getting ripped six-pack abs.
